Keystone Conference
On March 1, seven of our Keystone members were elected to attend the National Keystone Conference that took place in Chicago, Illinois for 5 days. These members had to obtain good grades all year long, serve their community and the Club and help fundraise money for special events. This Conference taught us how to be more of a leader in our community, our Club and inspired us to activate our legacy. Activating your legacy means: How will you leave your impact on this world and what difference can you make. We had the opportunity to meet and network with Boys & Girls Clubs teens from across the United States and overseas. We were able to collaborate and have open discussions on real world problems. This conference was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We had the chance to see the beautiful Windy City of Chicago and experience their culture. Overall, we will never forget the memories that were made at the 50th National Keystone Conference. –Karen R., Keystone Member age 15

Youth of the Year

Sixteen year-old La Habra High School Junior Jazmine Troncoso has been named the “Thomas A. Sauer” Memorial Youth of the Year award winner for the Boys & Girls Clubs of La Habra, which is the highest honor any Boys & Girls Club member can achieve.

The award was announced and presented to Jazmine on Tuesday January 17th at a “Dr. Seuss” themed dinner ceremony which was held at the La Habra Community Center. Well over 250 parents, members, and guests were in attendance. The Club is proud of Jazmine, not just for earning the award, but how much she has accomplished during her 3 years as a member and all of the hard work that she puts into her Club. Jazmine attends the Boys & Girls Clubs daily and is always looking to make a positive impact on our younger members.

For earning the La Habra Youth of the Year honor, Jazmine will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Jazmine has been a Keystone Club member for 3 years and holds a 3.4 gpa. After high school Jazmine plans to attend U.C. Irvine.
